Ghantasala Ratnakumar, the son of legendary playback singer Ghantasala and popular dubbing artist, passed away today morning. He died due to cardiac arrest. Ghantasala Ratnakumar had been suffering from kidney problems and he was on dialysis for a long. But multiple health issues popped up recently and he breathed his last at Kaveri hospital in Chennai on Thursday morning, where he was getting treatment.
Ghantasala Ratnakumar tested negative for the Coronavirus a couple of days ago, but he was undergoing dialysis for kidney related ailments. The doctors confirmed that Ratnakumar had other health issues which piled up of late and kept him vulnerable the past few days. Today he died at Kaveri hospital in Chennai after complaining of pain in the chest.
The playback singer Ghantasala has four daughters and four sons through two wives as he married a second time after his first wife passed away. Ratnakumar is his second son. And he is also a very busy dubbing artist.
Ratnakumar also entered the India Book of Records for dubbing eight hours non-stop. He also dubbed his voice to over 15, 000 episodes in Telugu and Tamil serials and more than fifty documentaries. Ratnakumar was the voice for Arvind Swami in Mani Ratnam’ directorial ventures – Roja and Bombay.
