The Ministry of Information and  Broadcasting also issued new guidelines for the functioning of  the theaters and the cinema halls amid the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. According to the latest update MHA has allowed 100 percent occupancy in theatres and the cinema halls from 1st February throughout the country. The cinema halls were shut owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.

MIB also shared new guidelines that include no movie screenings in the containment zones.

SOPs also issued the standard procedure that all the multiplexes will adhere. Overcrowding shall be avoided in the common areas, washrooms and lobbies during the intermission. The cinema halls will have to be sanitized after every screening and the temperature setting of all air conditioning devices should be in the range of 24-30°C.  The Hand sanitizers will be made available at entry and exit points. The use of face masks  for the audiences will be mandatory at all times.  The people who will visit the theatres and cinema halls will have to maintain a physical distance of 6 feet from others.

Currently, theaters and the cinema halls are operating with 50 percent occupancy. But now the limits have been increased and the theaters permitted 100 %  seating capacity in a single screens and multiplexes as well.
