A rare feat in the history of Telugu state politics, Dr late YSR and YS Jagan were the first father and son duo to offer the pattu vasthram to Lord Venkateswara in Tirumala as the Chief Minister.
Till now, there was no other father and son duo who served as the chief minister and offered the silk clothes to Lord Venkateswara swamy and this would be the rare feat in the history of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam(TTD). There were times when Late Dr YS Rajasekhar Reddy had offered pattu vasthram five times to Lord Venkateshwara in the past.
The tradition of offering silk clothes to the lord was started way back in 1953 when TTD came under purview of the state government. After that, the then NT Rama Rao after acquiring the power as Chief Minister, he started the tradition of presenting the pattu vastralu to Sri varu in Tirumala. Further, this tradition was followed by endowments ministers. Now, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has presented silk offering to the god and as the another rare feat, the additional EO of Tirumala temple AV Dharma Reddy was on duty at TTD then and now when Late YSR and current Jagan Mohan Reddy presented pattu vasthrams to Lord Venkateswara.
Currently, YS Jagan is focusing on all the developmental schemes and programmes that favour students, women and farmers.
