Pop star Rihanna recently shared a photograph of herself wearing a Lord Ganesha pendant alongside a pair of purple satin bottoms from her lingerie brand SavagexFenty. The pop singer also wore other accessories such as diamond bracelets, neckpieces and statement earrings. This pic was clicked for her lingerie brand, Savage X Fenty. While Rihanna’ post has clocked in lakhs of likes since its time of upload, some Twitter users have called the pop singer accessorizing with religious symbols a case of cultural appropriation.
Bhartiya Janata Party-BJP leader Ram Kadam wrote that 32 years old singer Rihanna has insulted the Hindu deities by posing topless with the Ganesha necklace.
One of the netizen named Ayushmann singh panwar said: Shame on u If u don’t know about something don’t say about it Another person said: Super offensive wearing Ganesha like that. Ram Kadam said: It’s appalling to see how @Rihanna shamefully mocks our beloved Hindu God #Ganesha. This exposes how Rihanna has no respect for Indian culture, tradition and our issues here.
Rihanna is already in news healdines in India for her tweet backing the farmer protests. This is the second time within days that the singer Rihanna has stoked a controversy in India.
