India’ Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared three week nationwide lockdown that started from midnight Tuesday. Modi said, “ The Social distancing is the only way to break the cycle of deadly virus.” Narendra Modi told people to stay inside their homes for 21 days. The shut down will be continued until 14th of April. He also warned that if they didn’t do so the country would be set back 21 years and several families would be destroyed. His last address was on the Coronavirus outbreak was on 19th March.
The list of few exempted segments in India are as follows:
1) Home gaurds, Central armed police forces, petroleum, CNG, LPG stations, fire and emergency services, disaster management, Post offices,
2) Electricity, water, sanitization
3) Municipal bodies
4) Fruits, vegetables, milk booths, Ration shops, groceries, meat, and fish shops
5) Banks, ATMs, Insurance offices
6) Hospitals, all related medical establishments, Test laboratories, Clinics, Nursing homes, both in public and private sector such as chemist, dispensaries, and medical equipment shops.
7) Print and Electronic media, Telecommunications, Broadcasting, internet services, Cable services
8) Petrol pumps, LPG, Petroleum and gas retail
9) Power generation, transmission and distribution units and services.
10) Hotels, lodges, and motels that are accommodating the tourists stuck due to lockdown
11) Manufacturing industries of essential commodities
12) Cold storage and warehousing services.
