The 44-year-old actor Sumanth is popular for picking up unconventional scripts and playing unique roles in movies. Despite having only a few hits in his kitty, he is still a bankable lead at the box-office courtesy his handsome looks and attractive screen-presence. Sumanth is the grandson of legendary thespian Akkineni Nageswara Rao. Now according to the latest update, Sumanth has signed a new movie, which is an official remake of the super hit 2018 Malayalam film, Padayottam. It is a gangster comedy, a genre that Sumanth Akkineni never tried in his career.
Padayottam is directed by Rafeek Ibrahim starring Prem Nazir, Madhu, Poornima Jayaram, Mammootty, Thikkurissy Sukumaran Nair, Mohanlal, Shankar, and Lakshmi.
Sumanth will play the lead role in the Telugu remake of Malayalam gangster-comedy drama Padayottam. The upcoming untitled film will be helmed by Vinu Yagna. The makers have roped a newbie Aima to play the female lead role.
The upcoming untitled film of Sumanth and Aima will be jointly bankrolled by Tammineni Janardhan Rao and Sharma Chukka under East India Talkies and The Manthra Entertainments. The regular shoot will be commenced from 15th December.
Sumanth is best known for starring in few movies such as Satyam, Gowri, Godavari, Madhumasam, Golconda High School, and most recently Malli Raava, Subrahmanyapuram. His father Surendra Yarlagadda is a retired film producer, popular for several hit films such as Shiva, Rao Gari Illu, Gaayam, Muchattaga Mugguru, and Collector Gari Abbayi.
Sumanth was last seen in NTR biopic, NTR Kathanayakudu, directed by Krish Jagarlamudi, where he essayed the role of ANR (Akkineni Nageswara Rao), which was released on the occasion of Sankranthi. Sumanth’s portrayal in his first supporting role drew unanimous praise from all corners and now the handsome hunk has finally signed his next film, which is a gangster drama after quite some time.
