The hashtag #PrayForNeasamani has been trending worldwide on social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram since Wednesday. Tamilians flooded Twitter with posts weeping and expressing concern over a fictional character called Neasamani from the film Friends which was released in 2001. Samantha Akkineni and daughter-in-law of Akkineni Nagarjuna, and the wife of Naga Chaitanya has joined the #PrayforNeasamani trend, which is taking the entire country by storm.
Samantha Akkineni shared a meme posted by one of her fans. The meme has Samantha Akkineni’ character Baby from her upcoming fantasy drama Oh Baby, reacting to Neasamani’ accident. Majili actress shared with a caption, “#Pray_For_Neasamani (sic)”
Richard Prasad tweeted, “Team #OhBaby wishing a speedy recovery of our contractor #Nesamani #Pray_for_Neasamani @Samanthaprabhu2 @nandureddy4u @MickeyJMeyer.”
Samantha wrote, “#Pray_for_Neasamani.”
On the social media, the netizens are playing along with the hashtag and posting memes, many are left clueless. Everyone is eager to know that Who is Contractor Nesamani? Painting contractor Nesamani is a character played by Vadivelu in a Kollywood movie Friends (2001). In a scene, Nesamani’s nephew (Ramesh Khanna), drops a hammer on Nesamani and then comes a set of hilarious consequences.
In fact, ‘Who is Nesamani’ is also one of the top searches on Google ever since it started trending on the Twitter.
Currently Samantha is waiting for the release of her upcoming movie Oh Baby, directed by Nandini Reddy.
